On June 4th, 2014, Dr. Paul Standing, from School of Science and Technology in Cape Breton University, gave our students an introduction to the Bachelor of Engineering Technology Program.
A CBU Bachelor of Engineering Technology combines professional theoretical knowledge with training for current labor market opportunities in various fields. The instructors not only teach the students engineering concepts, but also how to apply their knowledge in "hands –on" situations. Cape Breton University has been generating BET graduates since 1968, and their successes in the industry have built a solid reputation for CBU. Faculty are industry experts and know how to train graduates to thrive in innovative, dynamic workplaces. Courses are developed to meet real world situations, and students are well - prepared when they enter the workforce. In Nova Scotia, Cape Breton University has the largest engineering faculty besides Dalhousie University.
CBLC cares for each student's academic achievement and employment potential. The benefits of the CBU BET program offer outstanding global career opportunities. Industry Canada lists the average salary for a starting engineering technologist at $45,000 dollars per year. Global demand for technologists is at an all-time high. ACETT (Association of Certified Engineering Technologists and Technicians) currently estimates a shortage of 50,000 trained technologists in Canada alone. The BET allows students to work immediately after graduation.
